Commercial Assistant

Reports To: Senior Commercial Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly ambitious and commercially minded individual to join our market leading and fast-growing company. Deta Electrical is a long established, thriving manufacturer and distributor of high-quality wiring, lighting and electrical accessories which are widely specified by the major UK new build developers and are distributed through the electrical wholesale and retail DIY channels.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to contribute to the continuous growth of the business by helping to define and implement, at all levels, the commercial strategy for the business and influence the fulfilment of key business objectives.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working alongside relevant stakeholders, support the management of the company’s commercial offer including the pricing and commercial agreements it enters in to with its partners.
  • Work closely with the Product Management function in the review, calculation, implementation and communication of the sales pricing of new and existing products by reference to competitor activity, market positioning and movements in the company’s cost base.
  • Undertake commercial analysis and provide stakeholders around the business with direction and recommendations on the right commercial decisions for the business.
  • Provide commercial support to new business tenders and activities of the internal and external sales teams.
  • Monitoring, reporting and commentating on performance against forecast of sales, costs and margin.
  • Maintaining an awareness of market / competitor activity (product, price, promotions, etc.).
  • Work closely with the Business Systems team and the customer base to ensure systems are maintained and accurate with product and pricing data.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant business discipline (e.g. Business Studies, Business Management, Finance, Economics)
  • 1+ year (s) post-graduation work experience
  • A strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial approach
  • Strong analytical skills with a thorough and accurate approach to work
  • Computer literate with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage well with multiple stakeholders and business functions.
