Deta Electrical Launches New Relay & Trigger Bases

Deta is excited to announce the addition of the 1191 and 1192 Relay & Trigger Bases for Safety Alarm

The New Relay & Trigger Base allows Deta’s range of Optical Smoke, Heat and CO alarms to be connected alarms with equipment such as beacons and sounders, door holders, and door locks to help improve fire safety in buildings.

Ideal for use in homes and low rise apartments, the relay base can offer additional functionality in the event of a fire.

Mains Powered With & Without Battery Back Up

To cater to different installation requirements, two mains powered options are available with and without a long lithium battery backup as follows:

In the event of a mains power outage, the 1192 Battery Back Up version ensures continued usage.

Relay Switching

The relay allows for Normally Closed & Normally Open on / off switching of 240VAC / 24VDC connected equipment. Relays are typically used to:

  • Activate Beacons & Sounders to raise alarm
  • Release Door Holders to close doors to contain fire
  • Unlock Controlled Access Doors to aid evacuation

Trigger Input

Use the new Relay & Trigger Base to connect Deta’s Smoke, Heat, and CO alarms to other equipment. The trigger input allows for the alarm to be activated by a switch input such as sprinkler systems or other traditional switches.

In Wales, the Domestic Fire Safety Measure requires for all new and converted houses and flats to have fire sprinkler systems installed, and the Relay & Trigger Base can be used to connect the system with the fire alarms.

Easy Installation

The Relay & Trigger Base replaces the standard base supplied with the alarms and allow for Alarm heads to be connected using universal push-fix mounting.

The base provides multiple cable entry options including round rear entry and side entry for trunking and incorporates a removable cover with a hinged lockable lid to restricts access to live parts.

Alarm Interlinking

Interlink up to 12 Deta safety alarms using the Relay & Trigger Base to provide enhanced coverage throughout the property. Compatible alarms include:

Category of System Requirements

BS 5839-6:2019 identifies that the level of protection required in domestic properties must relate to fire risk and stipulates where alarms need to be installed by identifying distinct categories of protection required.

LD1 requires a high level of protection. Alarms are required in all circulation areas that form part of an escape route from the premises as well as in all rooms and areas apart from those with negligible sources of ignition such as toilets, bathrooms, and shower rooms.

LD2 requires a medium level of protection, and includes all circulation areas that form part of an escape route from the premises as well as specified areas that present a high risk to occupants. This can include any kitchen and principal habitable room.

Conclusion

The new Deta Relay & Trigger Base enhances fire safety in homes and low-rise apartments by connecting Deta’s Optical Smoke, Heat, and CO alarms to additional safety equipment like beacons, sounders, and door systems. With mains-powered options, including a version with a battery backup, it ensures uninterrupted operation during power outages. Its relay switching and trigger input capabilities enable seamless integration with fire safety measures such as sprinkler systems and controlled door mechanisms and it is easy to install while remaining compliant with BS 5839-6:2019 system requirements. The base supports alarm interlinking for up to 12 units, offering adaptable protection levels for diverse proerty needs.
