Smart Control Designed for Real-World Installations
In many homes and commercial buildings, smart lighting can be difficult to implement due to limited space behind switches or the absence of a neutral conductor. The DIMAX 540 mini dimmers have been designed specifically to overcome these challenges.
Both the DIMAX 540 plus B and DIMAX 540 APP B are extremely compact — small enough to fit into 25 mm back boxes — and operate without a neutral conductor, making them ideal for most existing UK wiring installations. They fit neatly behind standard switches, allowing lighting upgrades to be completed without major re wiring or disruption.
Small Size, Huge Flexibility
Despite their minimal footprint, DIMAX 540 mini dimmers offer impressive flexibility. Multiple switches can be connected to a single dimmer, allowing lights to be switched and dimmed from several locations, even over long cable runs of up to 100 metres. This approach offers a clear advantage over traditional rotary dimming systems, where multi way control often requires costly master and extension setups with a rotary dimmer at each switch position, typically limited to a small number of locations. With DIMAX, multi point control is simpler, more flexible and more cost effective.
Intelligent Lighting with the DIMAX 540 APP B
The DIMAX 540 APP B builds on this proven platform by adding Bluetooth app control, giving users greater convenience and personalisation without increasing installation complexity.
Using the app on a smartphone or tablet - or a standard push button - users can control multiple lighting circuits, create scenes and adjust settings to suit different times of day or activities. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh technology allows devices to be networked together, making it easy to manage lighting across open plan living spaces or larger commercial environments.
In hospitality settings such as bars or restaurants, this capability becomes particularly valuable. Instead of manually adjusting multiple dimmers to achieve the right atmosphere for breakfast, lunch or evening service, pre set scenes can be created and recalled instantly. Lighting levels remain consistent day after day, helping to create the right ambience with minimal effort.
Set & Forget Convenience with ASTRO Functions
The DIMAX 540 APP B also includes advanced ASTRO functions, designed to automate lighting based on natural daylight. By setting the geographical location via the app, lighting can be programmed to switch on at sunset and off at sunrise, with timings that automatically adjust throughout the year.
Additional flexibility allows for delayed on/off times and night breaks. For example, ensuring external lighting switches off overnight while still following sunrise and sunset patterns. ASTRO functions can also be applied to entire scenes rather than individual circuits, making them suitable for larger properties such as hotels with landscaped grounds or external dimmable lighting.
Smooth Dimming, Reliable Performance
Optimised for LED, incandescent and halogen lamps, the DIMAX 540 APP B delivers smooth, reliable dimming from 0–100%. The extended dimming speed allows easier selection of the ideal light level, while the adjustable minimum brightness helps prevent flicker in low level settings. A built in memory function recalls the last selected brightness level, and standby power consumption remains low at under 0.5 W, ensuring efficiency alongside intelligent control.

As with all DIMAX products, safety and reliability are built in. Temperature cut off, overcurrent shutdown and short circuit protection help ensure dependable long term operation, protecting both the dimmer and connected lighting circuits.
